As a part of its Restoring You platform, Caliber is committed to living out its purpose of Restoring the Rhythm of Your Life® with the National Auto Body Council's Recycled Rides® program. On March 24, 2022, Caliber Collision and Geico teamed up to gift Kunisha Fernandez, a local army veteran, and her family a newly refurbished car.
The U.S. Army veteran and her four children have been using public transportation to go grocery shopping and to doctor's appointments, while her husband rides a bicycle to work every day. A local nonprofit called Volunteers of America knew about the Fernandez family's situation and decided to nominate them.
Fernandez says that getting around safely to daily appointments, work and school is a main priority for the family. "I definitely appreciate everything everyone here has done for us," she said.
"There's a variety of different volunteer organizations across the nation that work with individuals daily and are aware of the program, so they fill out the paperwork and submit everything online with the story about the individual," said Caliber Collison Vice President Jaime Angel. "Then Caliber Collision goes through and chooses the applicant that best fits the vehicle we have on hand."
Special thanks to the teammates at Caliber Collision of Grand Junction, Colorado for donating their time to restore the vehicle to near new condition. Caliber is proud to give back to local law enforcement, active-duty military and veterans who keep the communities it serves safe.
Since 2012, Caliber has teamed up with its insurance partners to restore hundreds of vehicles to pre-accident condition. The company has gifted more than 500 vehicles to veterans, active-duty service members and others in need of reliable transportation.
